For our version of Pippin, we wanted to explore gender and how Pippin’s story was about them discovering their identity in a world of gender norms. The director wanted a title card that could help establish that message, so we decided on the usual title card for the show, but with the male gender violently forced upon it.
For the sign, I taped out a board and projected lettering onto it. I drew the lettering on over the tape and then cut out each one. This setup made painting on the lettering very quick and left a nice finished product.
